Dance Classes in Yorkville, Illinois: Gold Star Academy of Dance

The Gold Star Academy of Dance, founded by Artistic Director Michelle Seifrid, provides a variety of dance classes for all ages and levels in a family friendly atmosphere. Classes are offered during the school year, and classes and camps are available during the summer months. Class sizes are limited to ensure personal attention and optimal technical development for dancers.

Classes are available for students ages 18 months to adult at Gold Star Academy of Dance. For children ages 18-24 months and a caregiver, the GSDA provides a “Dance with Me” class. Creative Movement is offered to students ages 2 to 5 years, and a variety of combination classes are available to students ages 5 to 7. Additional classes for students ages 7 and up include ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, acrobatics/tumbling, musical theatre, and baton twirling. The studio also offers cheerleading classes, tumbling for cheerleaders, and back handspring clinics. Adult classes are available in ballet, jazz/hip hop, tap, and fitness. Class placement is determined by ability, experience and age.

The goal for all students of the Gold Star Academy of Dance is to explore dance as a creative process and to gain an appreciation of the art form. The studio provides classes for both recreational dancers, as well as those looking to pursue professional dance careers. The studio has an annual Spring Performance for its students, and dancers looking for additional performing experience can audition for the Vivid Dance Company. The Company performs in a variety of community events, benefits, nursing homes and at competitions.

Gold Star features three dance rooms equipped with wood sprung floors and large viewing windows. There is a large lobby for parents to wait for their children, and provides students with a place to complete homework. The office staff is available for assistance during regular business hours. The Academy features an on-site “Pro Shop” where students can purchase leotards, tights, shoes, and other dancewear needs. The studio also offers dance-themed birthday party packages for students ages 5 and up.
